JAM and Spinnaker - Around the Buoys - Race #3 (May 16, 2026)

Logistics:

Spinnaker boats and jib and main (JAM) boats gather on the Neuse River off of Oriental, NC, generally north east of SC1. The course is marked with ODC inflatable marks, and Spinnaker and JAM fleets will have separate starts.

The start of the first race for the spinnaker fleet is at 13:00 with the warning signal at 12:55. The JAM fleet will start shortly thereafter. JAM fleet should stay clear of the starting line until after the spinnaker fleet starts.

We will run up to 4 races each day of racing.

2026 Dragon’s Breath Regatta (May 29, 2026)

Join us for two days of racing, dinner on Saturday night, and trophies on Sunday afternoon. Welcoming all PHRF boats over 20 feet with spinnaker, JAM, and cruising fleets.

Pursuit Race #1, Spinnaker Around the Buoys - Race #4 (June 27, 2026)

Logistics:

Boats gather on the Neuse River off of Oriental, NC, generally north east of SC1. We will run two events. The Pursuit Race, intended for Cruising Boats, will be around government marks with a pursuit start. The Spinnaker Around the Buoys Race, intended for competitive spinnaker boats, will be around the buoys with the traditional 5 minute start.

Cruising Pursuit Race

One pursuit start race for cruising boats will be sailed around the government marks, Garbacon Shoal, "7", Adams Creek "AC1" and Oriental One "SC1". Finish is back around SC1 bearing 090. Time offsets will be announced at the Skipper's meeting (see below) and over channel 78A. All boats should check in with the race committee boat. The first start will be at 12:30. The start sequence will only be run for the first boat, with the warning signal at 12:25.

There will be a Skipper's meeting at 0900 at SailCraft Marina's Sailing School office at 09:00 to review the race logistics and hand out Pursuit start off-set times.

Spinnaker Around the Buoys Race

We will run up to 4 races for spinnaker class around a course marked with ODC inflatable marks. All boats should check in with the race committee boat. The start of the first race is at 13:00 with the warning signal at 12:55.

Oriental Cup Regatta 2026 (October 09, 2026)

Save the dates for Oriental Cup Regatta, October 9-11 (the race is on Saturday). Hosted by the Nautical Collective of Oriental (NCO) sailing clubs, this event supports youth sailing and swimming programs. It combines races for all levels, good food, live music and a fun awards breakfast on Sunday. Registration is not yet available, but you can find out more about the event at https://orientalcupregatta.com/.
