Visual signals on the race course

The flag sequence takes priority over horns or anything you hear on the VHF.

 Image  Name  Location  Meaning and related sound signals
   Race committee flag  On mast at stern  Of all the committee boats out there, this is the one for ODC! 
 Line flag (it's orange)  Amidships, port side  Denotes the start/finish line
 Answering pennant (AP)  On cabin top

 The race is postponed. The start sequence begins one minute after the AP flag is dropped. 

Two sounds when raised. One sound when dropped. 

 Individual recall  Handheld

 One or more identified boats must restart. 

One sound when raised. 

 General recall  Handheld

 All boats must restart. There will be another start sequence. 

Two sounds when raised. 

 Pennant 1  On cabin top Flag for JAM fleet in non-pursuit races. It’s raised at five minutes before the start with a sound. It’s dropped with one sound to indicate the start. 
 Pennant 3 On cabin top Flag for spinnaker fleet in non-pursuit races. It’s raised at five minutes before the start with a sound. It’s dropped with one sound to indicate the start. 
 Pennant 6 On cabin top  In pursuit races all boats are in the same fleet.
P (Papa) flag On cabin top  Raised four minutes before the start with one sound. Stays up three minutes. Dropped at one minute to go with one sound. 
 S (Sierra) flag On cabin top  The course has been shortened.
 L (Lima) flag On cabin top  Come within hail, either to check in or get on-the-water updates. 
 N (November) flag On cabin top

 All races that have started are abandoned.
